Poetry Sunday

Yesterday was Sunday, and I decided that it would be poetry Sunday & I'd post the poems here. We only got two done, so the results will be mercifully short.

Poem number one:
untitled

Shitty Squiddy-O's
Even the Tartar
couldn't help.

This was written after Jim decided to make Calamari for breakfast. He was already aware that the quality of the Calamari was terrible, because he had made half the box weeks ago. Rather then throw the rest away, he was going to cook the other half of the box, and he was going to do so for breakfast.

Fortunately for Jim, he burned the shitty Calamari. Unfortunately for Jim, his seeming "we're in an economic depression let's eat like it" attitude led him to eat one or two of the shitty Calamari before abandoning his mission, and fleeing to Starbucks.

Which is where we came up with this little poem.

Poem number two:
because I am a judgemental bitch

Guy with a "sacrifice everything" T-shirt.
Why do you carry
that Starbucks cup?

I guess this one pretty much speaks for itself.

LOL!

(Literally, actullay, since I know you are not a fan of using that particular bit of slang unless you MEAN it!)

I actually find that kind of hypocrisy (tshirt guy) a little comforting. Whew! Nobody else is perfect, so I don't have to be either! But I can also be a judgemental bitch. So cheers to that side to ; )

thanks ladies!
I hear what you're saying Christine, I set the bar pretty high for my conduct, and then break the rules all the time.

When I'm fresh out of my meditation retreat, It's easy to be rational and compassionate and accepting. And then reality slowly creeps back in.

And one day I find myself sitting outside Starbucks, waiting for my coffee, composing grumpy poetry about some poor guy, carrying his venti vanilla late while innocently wearing the modern incarnation of the "No Fear" T shirt of the mid 90's.

Somehow no matter how drawn I am to meditation and yoga, and being compassionate... I still can't resist a good snarky sense of humour. : )
